I’m thinking sunsetting this mastodon instance of near social in favor of fully onchain implementation. All data (except for posts) can be migrated. The post history will be in a snapshot, but not necessary moved. The current ruby implementation is too hard to modify and doesn’t offer native flexibility and openweb integration. It also lacks decentralization which will hit us eventually.

@mob do you mean take the server down because maintenance is a burden? I agree there are many web3 native projects to create independent decentralized social networks. I don't know which projects already thought about federation / interoperability.

@tgoerke no, can keep it running, but it will run into limitations and censorship at some point. Near based social network will be better protected. Fully open sourced and permissionless. Ideally interoperable, but not at v1.
